The Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail winds nearly 4,900 miles through the homelands of more than 60 Tribal nations. It follows the historic outbound and inbound routes of the Lewis and Clark Expedition of 1803-1806 from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the Pacific Ocean. Follow the trail to find the people, places, and stories that make up the complex legacy of the expedition.

Add more time if there will be ranger programs, you want to watch all the movies, or if you plan to hike a longer trail such as the Kwis Kwis, South Slough, Or Fort-to-Sea. If you plan to hike, you may want to consider making it an activity for an additional day. </p>

The beginning of the Lewis and Clark Expedition nearly ended in tragedy when an airgun discharged into a group of bystanders.
During the Lewis and Clark Expedition, there were many ways the members were able to treat themselves when they became ill. Filled with what was available for modern medicine at the time, Lewis brought a chest of different medicines for expected or unexpected illnesses or wound care. Many of these remedies were what we might call today herbal or home remedies. How prepared do you think Lewis and Clark were for these unexpected encounters?
