Off-highway vehicles (OHVs) are required by law to display a valid OHV decal to operate on public and state trust lands in Arizona. This includes “street legal” vehicles that meet these two requirements.

Full of natural splendor and a sense of solitude, this area remains remote and unspoiled, qualities that are essential to the protection of its scientific and historic resources.

The monument is open every day of the year, however many areas may be inaccessible when roads are impassable. Within the boundaries of Grand Canyon-Parashant there are no facilities or visitor contact stations. Do not rely on your cellphone - there is no cell service on the monument. Roads can be impassable during the monsoon season, July through September, and after winter storms.

In late June 2021, the lightning-ignited Andrus Canyon Fire was discovered burning in a pinyon-juniper dominated woodland with little to no understory on the eastern side of Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument. Previous relationships with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Color County Interagency Fire Center, and other partners allowed NPS fire leadership to quickly mobilize personnel and crews.
Bats are amazing animals and a formidable force against insect pests, but a nasty fungal disease is killing them. A coordinated national response brings hope.

Across the US, changes in water availability are altering which plants grow where. These changes are evident at a broad scale. But not all areas experience the same climate in the same way, even within the boundaries of a single national park. A new dataset gives park managers a valuable tool for understanding why vegetation has changed and how it might change in the future under different climate-change scenarios.
