Be Bear Aware
The park is bear habitat. There have been recent sightings of a bear near park trails and visitor areas. Never approach or offer food to a bear. Maintain a distance of at least 150 ft. If a bear approaches you, do not run or make any sudden movements. Make yourself look big; loudly and calmly tell the bear to "go away;" and slowly back away from the bear. Report any sightings to the nearest park ranger.
Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park is Cashless
Tours may be purchased online (recreation.gov) or in person with a credit or debit card only. Cash transactions are not available at the park.
Walk through one of Vermont's most beautiful landscapes under the shade of the Mount Tom Forest, the oldest continuously managed scientific forest in the United States. The park's 20 miles of trails & carriage roads are open dawn till dusk for hiking & equestrian use. The Carriage Barn Visitor Center is open five days a week, Thursday-Monday (closed Tues/Weds) 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., from Memorial Day Weekend-October 31. Ranger-led programs are available Thursday-Monday (no programs on Tues/Weds). Programs sell out quickly. Reserve in advance on Recreation.gov.

Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park is the oldest, scientifically managed forest in the United States. The National Park uses traditional logging techniques to manage the landscape. In 2023, logging operations are impacted by the spread of Emerald Ash Borer (EAB).
Overview of the 2024 Artist-in-Residence Exhibit, located in the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park Carriage Barn Visitor Center. The exhibit will be open between September 21, 2024 - October 31, 2024.
