Students will learn about enslaved life on a farm through the use of their senses. Students will recognize the challenges Washington faced as an enslaved child and the resilience he developed in response to those challenges. Students will observe the natural resources that living things need to survive as well as how 1800s objects and tools were used. Students will understand empathy and kindness by learning about Washington’s interactions with animals.
