In this lesson the students will be able to determine which states remained in the United States, which states joined the Confederacy, and which states were Border States. The students will be able to locate important river and rail systems used to transport troops and supplies. They will also be able to describe how this dependence on important river and rail systems led to the Battles of Shiloh and Corinth.
